Swine Flu on the Rise

The World Health Organisation (WHO) raised the level of influenza pandemic alert from Phase Five to Phase Six

The UK government has decided to move from the 'containment' to the 'treatment' phase of swine flu as the number of people catching swine flu continues to rise

This means that health services can now focus more time and energy treating the increasing numbers who have the virus, rather then waiting for laboratory testing

Most cases of swine flu have not been severe and are not in a strong position to deal with this pandemic; the risk is minimal however you need to be aware of what you should be doing to prevent contamination and the symptom of the virus

Health Secretary Andy Burnham said that scientists now expect to see rapid rises in the number of cases. "Cases are doubling every week and if it continues at this rate there could be over 100,000 cases per day by the end of August" However, he stressed that this was only a projection

There are simple things that we can all do to protect ourselves and others against Flu

When you cough or sneeze it is important to follow these simple rules

1. Always carry tissues

2. Use clean tissues to cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze

3. Bin the tissues after one use

4. Wash your hands with soap and hot water

CATCH IT, BIN IT, KILL IT

Serna Services have been instructing the cleaners to pay special attention to all surfaces and door handles until the WHO Alert level is reduced, we are also encouraging our clients to purchase hygiene wipes to allow all its employees to regularly clean phone handset and computer keyboard
